Medical Imaging Physics is an interdisciplinary field in which the collaborative works of physicists, physicians, and engineers have resulted in the rapid technological advancement in medicine, exemplified by the innovation and advancement in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography. These advancements have not only greatly impacted upon diagnostic imaging but also radiation oncology, as well as many other areas of patient care. The American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and the Chinese Society of Medical Physics (CSMP) jointly organize this workshop to be held June 23 - 27, 2007 in Beijing China. The purposes are two fold. One is to create an opportunity for the medical physicists, biomedical engineers, and physicians from China, United States, and other countries to gather together and to learn from each other’s experience. The other is to promote clinical medical physics as a profession and to foster closer collaboration between physicians and academicians in China. Professionals from United States and China, who specialized in diagnostic imaging, PET, molecular imaging, radiation oncology, computer technology, and radiation safety will present their work in didactic settings, so as to maximize the learning experience for the participants of the workshop, to inspire further collaborative research and developments within China and internationally, and to improve the quality of patient care through closer involvements of medical physicists.

The Workshop is a part of the International Scientific Exchange Program (ISEP) funded by AAPM, with additional financial support by the North American Chinese Medical Physicists Association (NACMPA), and the International Organization of Medical Physics (IOMP).
